Can a professional procrastinator really do 101 in 1001?

Knitting/Crochet

1.      Learn to spin.

2.      Learn to dye fiber.

3.      Knit something with yarn I’ve spun and dyed myself.

4.      Learn the Magic Loop and 2 at a Time method of sock knitting.

5.      Design my own knitting project.

6.      Knit at least 6 items from my Ravelry queue that is not in a book I own. (0/6)

7.      Knit at least one object from each pattern book or magazine I own. (1/24)

8.      Knit toys for all my nieces and nephews for Christmas. (0/5)

9.      Knit sweaters for all my nieces and nephews. (2/5)

10.    Finish my grandmother’s crocheted blanket.

11.    Finish all UFO’s (unfinished objects), as of list inception date. (Helena’s sweater, Noah’s sweater, Lara’s blanket, Luke’s blanket, Dani’s blanket, Helena’s blanket, Noah’s blanket, snake, teddy bear, Zissou Hat, baby blanket, Sweet Lime socks)

12.    Visit 10 different LYSs. (3/10: latest – The Lamb Shoppe in Denver, CO)

13.    Attend Stitches West.

14.    Join a swap group on Ravelry, or another knitting website.  Joined Dexter 2 swap, and Dracula swap on Ravelry, July 2008.

 

Sewing/Other Hobbies

15.    Sew living curtains, and install them.

16.    Find fabric and make curtains for kitchen.

17.    Finish sewing all outstanding clothing projects. (0/4)

18.    Make and embroider a dress for Helena.

19.    Embroider new kitchen towels.

20.    Finish my antique ornament wreath.

21.    Finish DH for Lara, and make one for Helena.

22.    Design/make a coffee table.

23.    Create one hangable piece of art for the living room.

24.    Learn to make my own, decent soap.

25.    Design my own tattoo. Maybe get it done, money permitting.

 

Education/Learning/Culture

26.    Start playing the oboe again, and maybe look into lessons.

27.    Learn to play three songs on the guitar. If I don’t, give away or sell guitar. (0/3)

28.    Take the Long Beach Parks and Rec Speed Spanish class.

29.    Take a dance class with Kyle, and go to every class.

30.    Take Roz and Barry’s pottery class.

31.    Try surfing at least once.

32.    Go to a UCLA Open House for interior design. (attended 5/22/08 )

33.    Enroll in the UCLA Interior Design Program. (enrolled 7/30/08 )

34.    Get all As for at least 3 quarters. (0/3)

35.    Visit the LACMA and the MOCA, and take the subway to get there.

36.    Visit all the museums and rec parks in Long Beach.

37.    Learn to do basic car maintenance on my own. (Change a tire, change the oil, change all other   fluids, replace brake pads, change the air filter)

38.    Learn to drive a manual car well.

39.    Improve my typing to at least 35 WPM, without looking at the keyboard.

 

Health

42.    Eat at least 1 serving of veggies a day for 30 days. (0/30, sixth attempt started 8/18/08 )

45.    Research and do a cleansing fast.

46.    Floss my teeth 4 times a week for 30 days. Yes, this makes me sound like a heathen, but come on, who really does manage to floss their teeth every day?!? It’s all about personal growth. :)  (2/4 weeks) (first attempt started 8/5/08 )

47.    Go to the dentist. ( I haven’t been in over three years)

48.    Get a professional massage.

49.    Find a counselor.

 

Cooking/Food

50.    Cook dinner at least once a week for 3 months. (0/12)

51.    Go to a local Farmer’s Market 10 times. (0/10)

52.    Make 3 pies from scratch. (0/3)

53.    Make 3 cakes from scratch. (0/3)

54.    Get my favorite recipes from my relatives and friends, and make them. (Spaghetti, coffee cake, brownies, pot roast, molasses cookies, hash brown casserole, need to find more)

55.    Try a new restaurant once a month, excluding the month of no eating out, and no excess buying. (6/31)

56.    Try 10 foods I think I hate, just to make sure. (0/10)

58.    Buy only true essentials for one month. (second attempt started 8/18/08 )

59.    Stick to debt payment plan for 12 straight months. (4/12, began in May 2008 )

64.    Visit San Francisco, and get there by driving up the 1.

Social Skills/Relationships

72.    Throw a house warming party (now to be a “going back to school party”).

74.    Have 5 girls’ nights, with at least two other girls in attendance. (0/5)

75.    Have 5 game nights, which we either host, or instigate somewhere else. (1/5)

76.    Attend a Stitch ‘n’ Bitch group at least 15 times. (0/15)

77.    Go on 20 “dressed-up” dates with Kyle. (4/20)

 

Organization

78.    Sell/give away unwanted items in garage.

79.    Sell my DH kits.

80.    Sell the excess wedding dresses! (0/2)

81.    Back up all old files/photos on computer.

82.    Print out cross country photos and put in album.

83.    Organize all photos, hardcopies and files.

84.    Organize all the junk drawers/boxes/shelves/nooks/crannies. (large closet, yarn closet, small dresser drawers, hutch drawers, kitchen drawers, buffet drawers,  built-in desk, computer hutch, bathroom built-in, 3 junk boxes in garage)

85.    Finish all archiving in my cube.

87.    Find a new job, or start school so I can eventually get a new job.

90.    Get glass cut for two side tables.

91.    Paint my bicycle.

92.    Take the cats for their shots, and have Herbie’s teeth cleaned.

94.    Go whale watching.

95.    Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.

96.    Celebrate every major holiday for a year. (New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Cinco De Mayo, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas)

97.    Fill up my current journal, and start on another.

98.    Get a book from the library once a month. (5/33)

99.    Go to a track day with Dan and Sara.

100. See all the movies that I haven’t already, that are listed on the AFI’s 1998 and 2007 top 100 movies of all time, if they are available. (5/84, last seen, The Maltese Falcon)

101. Have a fun birthday.

    The list made me very tired! It’s hard for me to make a “to do” list for even a week, much less 1001 days. The list also reminds me of projects in our garage …rocking chair, platform rocker, crown molding, paint for outdoor furniture. I think I need to take a nap!
